These shots were taken during a walk my partner and I took through the Grund area of Luxembourg City. We took the walk before the snow hit us about a week ago, so things are greener (and much less cold) in the photos than they are currently. I still try to get down there and take a walk whenever I’m feeling stir crazy, as the views and trickling water are quite relaxing. I hardly even notice the cold.
The Grund is in the valley below city center, carved out by the Alzette River. There is a park just about a block from us (or whatever they call blocks here), where a cobbled path weaves down into this area. It is the perfect foot path for long walks or bike rides, and has some of the most beautiful scenery I have seen so far in this city. I would highly recommend this area (along with the casemates) to tourists. If you’re intimidated by the stairs or long winding paths, there is an easy way down and back out: in the center of the Grund is a lift that will take you straight up into city center.
There is some shopping and decent dining down in this area, but I recommend it just for the excercise and the beauty. Don’t miss it!
Have to go for a walk there……next time we come…….in WARM weather too, so we can go through the Bock too!!!
Definitely!
Wonderful article! This is the type of information that are supposed to be shared across the net.
Shame on the search engines for no longer positioning this put up higher!
